SYMPTOMS Patients with Pre-excitation syndrome exhibit one or more abnormal, irregular heartbeats known as: |
- (a) atrial flutter, in which the atrium beats regularly at an extremely rapid rate;
- (b) atrial fibrillation, rapid, irregular twitchings of the muscular wall; or
- (c) paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia in which the heart rate increases abruptly to 100 to 200 beats per minute. This rapid heart rate may slow down just as abruptly and then recur irregularly.

Other symptoms, less remarkable and more common to most cardiac problems, include: |
- fluttering sensations and tightness in the chest
- weakness
- faintness
- palpitations
